This retreat is open to anyone regardless of their experience working with textiles. Those with little or no sewing experience will be supported to create simpler pieces such as quilted coasters, scrunchies, bread bags and patchwork wall hangings. Those with more experience can make a pair of beautiful patchwork trousers, a simple dress or explore their own ideas under her gentle guidance

The workshop is led by me and supported by Casa Julfa founder Corinne Aivazian. Corinne has been wearing Bug clothes since 2018. Bug and Corinne have many things in common, like being in charge of a small human, a dog and a business that is run through authenticity and intuition as opposed to traditional capitalist modalities. We have many friends and collaborators in common and are therefore delighted to be finally working together on this special offering

More about Casa Julfa

Casa Julfa is a place where creative practices meet and cultures diffuse. It’s a sanctuary to create, to grow, to rest, and to be sheltered from the distractions and demands of contemporary society. Housed in large seventeenth century townhouse, in the picturesque ville d’Art et Histoire of Montmorillon, France. It’s a place where things move slower and life is a little easier to navigate.

-

The story of the Casa Julfa began in 2014, when founder Corinne Aivazian, decided to leave behind a career in the contemporary art world and life of living in cities, in search of something more authentic, slower and in symbiosis with the natural world.

The area has a long history of creative practice from writing to pottery, basket weaving, wood, leather, lace and paper work and an ancient history of exquisite natural pigment painting,  folk medicine and organic farming, which continues today
